Caught!

So I asked my friend about her marital status. And she acted as if I'd violated the 14th commandment..."thou shalt not unearth secrets about thy friends w/o their knowledge".

She's the one who's been caught in a tiny white lie of omission, but I'm the bad guy because I found it?

Sigh....sometimes I wonder why I even bother being her friend...oh wait...I was there for her when she went through her first divorce. Wonder if she'll suddenly need me in her second?

I'm cutting off contact. She knows my email and phone number. If and when she comes to her senses, I'll be here. But I'm not gonna initiate it this time.

I have a friend like that. I did the same thing. They're too toxic. Hugs.

I've consulted others (w/o breaking any confidences) who've told me I've done nothing wrong. FB is a PUBLIC site, and she's simply mad because I not only was smart enough to FIND OUT, but the fact I confronted her with it.

And I could tell her mood wasn't the best; maybe I could have held off for another month or so. But knowing me, it would have come out sooner or later, and I wanted to clear the air NOW. I've never lied to her in our 24-year friendship, and wasn't about to start now. True friendship is hearing the good, the bad, and the ugly, and still remaining friends. I just hope this is true on her end.
