Ever suddenly remember a snippet of conversation, or a description of part of a scene that you've either written or read somewhere, but couldn't remember the title? That happened to me yesterday.
And after mulling it over, the answer suddenly came to me; it was in the NaNo challenge manuscript I wrote during the month of November.
I was so sick of my characters, the storyline, and even writing in general, that I put it away and vowed to not even look at it until March. Well guess what? I reread it last night, and if I say so myself, it's pretty damn good!
Sure, it needs editing, some word revisions here and there, and some better transitions. But underneath the flaws, I believe is an erotic romance worthy of EC. I think the time has come to get back to work on it.
And the other wip I started last month, that comes to me in flashes? It's getting stronger inside my head as well, and I even wrote the next scene last night. And woke up this morning with a mild revision in my head.
So the wheels are starting to turn again, after a three month hiatus. I just hope my day job isn't going to interfere with the creative process; otherwise, I'll do what I did the last time the urge to write came about...carry a notebook with me and every spare moment write down as much as I can! Fortunately, I'll have the flexibility to say 'no' if they call me and I'm in the zone. Sure, I'll be trading a paycheck for the creative process, but sometimes you just have to write.
Otherwise, the urge disappears and you're left kicking yourself because you didn't listen to your muse.
And she doesn't like to be ignored.
Molly started her contest...anyone playing?
