Book vs Movie #MFRW Authors #20
What are my favorite movie versions of books?
-Gone With The Wind (I actually saw this before I read the book!)
-Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone (I was prepared to sleep through it, then LAUGHED during the entire movie! THEN decided to read the books)
-The Devil Wears Prada (bought the book in an airport kiosk during a layover and was thrilled when it was made into a movie!)
-The Notebook (if I want a good cry, all I have to do is watch it. Same with Toy Story 3.)
That's all I can come up with at the moment.
Which ones I can't stand?
-My Sister's Keeper (it changed the ending. I was NOT happy!)
-Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (they couldn't keep in all of the good parts of the book. IMHO, of course....)

I haven't read The Notebook, but the movie is a good one. I think I may be the only person on the planet who doesn't cry over Toy Story 3. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it :)
Totally agree about My Sister's Keeper. A friend of mine went to see it and told me the ending had been changed. I refused to watch it after that. Still haven't seen it and never plan to. I read The Notebook, but I've not watched the movie. I'll go hide in shame over having never read or watched Harry Potter. I've seen bits and pieces of the movies, but I've never sat down to watch one all the way through.
Wow- you've got several of the same one's I picked. :)
@Sherry: My kids think I'm nuts that I cry every time I see TS3, even if I only come in during the final scene!
@Meka: I had to watch the last 2 on video, since I didn't make it to the theater!
@Maureen: I'm not an Austen fan, so I'm amazed that there are so many P&P movies mentioned! I nearly fell asleep while reading Sense and Sensibility.
I also find it amusing that NONE of us have the same blog title!
When they change the ending--that's not fair to the reader or the watchher. They lose me when I do that in an adaptation.
I loved the Harry Potter books much more than the movies.
The only one of these I've read was Harry Potter. Like most (but not all!) adaptations, the books are better.
I liked the movie of Goblet of Fire, but by then the books had gotten much longer and there's just no way to fit all the subplots into the movie. It's a shame because a lot of the humor in the later books was absent from the movies, making them seem darker than the books actually were.
